DAY 1
   

Arrival transfer to a Muscat Hotel of your choice.

   
   
   
DAY 2 - MUSCAT / NAKHL / RUSTAQ / MUSCAT
0900 hrs after breakfast leave the hotel and our first stop is at Nakhl. As you approach Nakhl, keep an eye out for the fortress that sits on a hillock outside this small town which has a large date plantation. The fort’s origin is pre-Islamic with major contributions by the Al Ya’ruba and the Al Bu Sayed dynasties. We visit the fort. The narrow road through the town winds up to the Hot Springs, which is a popular picnic spot. We have our picnic lunch near the springs. Then we move to Rustaq to visit a pre-Islamic fort, another major trading centre of Oman, with some interesting souqs. Later we return to Muscat. Overnight stay in the hotel (Breakfast, Picnic lunch)
   
   
DAY 3 (4 WD- Muscat – Sur - Ras Al Hadd)

We depart by 4WD vehicle to Ras Al Junaiz via the scenic and rugged coastal route. This tour along the coastline offers breathtaking glimpses of the blue waters of the Gulf of Oman offset by pristine white beaches. We drive past the fishing village of Quriyat and our first stop is the Bimah sinkhole; a spectacular limestone crater with turquoise, blue and green sparkling waters. On clear sunny days while driving along the coast one might be lucky enough to see sharks in the deep blue waters or fleet footed Gazelles sprint across the landscape.

Drive ahead to Wadi Tiwi. The road to Tiwi winds in and around the local old style houses. The route is surrounded by lush green plantations with water flowing all year around. Enjoy a picnic lunch. We also pass by The Mausoleum of Bibi Miriam at Qalhat which stands as testimony to a bygone era. As we continue from here the road winds through some amazing mountain terrain. We continue our drive to Ras Al Junaiyz; a marvelous sanctuary for green turtles.

Dinner and overnight stay in Ras Al Hadd Hotel. We will take a short drive to the beach from the hotel to watch the turtles nestling on the sands. B, PL, D

   
   
DAY 4 (Muscat – Sur - Wahiba Sands)

NB. For those interested in watching the turtle hatchlings, the early morning hours are perfect.
Breakfast at the hotel.  Late morning departure for Wadi Bani Khalid. The Wadi comprises of small pretty villages embedded in the mountains. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route.

We continue our drive to the Wahiba Sands; a vast mass of undulating red and white sand dunes rising up to 200 metres, host to a variety of flora and fauna. The ever changing patterns and colours of the dunes are a photographer’s delight. Experience some ‘dune bashing’ as we roller coaster up and down and over the sand.
Dinner and overnight stay at Al Raha Camp OR 1000 Nites Camp. B, PL, D
(It is advisable to wear light comfortable clothing and walking shoes).

   
   
DAY 5 (4 WD - Wahiba Sands to Nizwa)

Enjoy breakfast in the desert.  From here we proceed to Nizwa via Ibra, Sinaw and Izki. Check in to The Golden Tulip Nizwa hotel (or similar). 
Overnight stay in Golden Tulip Nizwa.

DAY 6 Breakfast (Nizwa-Jabrin-Nizwa) 0830 hrs

This morning visit Nizwa which boasts the famous Round Tower Fort, built in the 17th Century and its Souq renowned for its Friday cattle auction, intricately hand-carved “Khanjars” (daggers) and ornamental silver jewellery. A brief photo stop at Bahla Fort (at present under renovation) listed in UNESCO’s heritage monuments. Proceed to Jabrin, where you will find the finest of Oman’s Castles also built in the late 17th Century; Jabrin became a powerful seat of Omani learning. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route. Jabrin Castle displays the highest achievement in Omani ceiling paintings and beautifully executed woodcarvings. After the tour, return to Nizwa for dinner and overnight stay at Golden Tulip Nizwa. DAY 7 Breakfast (Nizwa-Jebel Shams-Muscat) 0830 hrs

Drive to WADI NAKHER located in the depth of our deepest canyon.  While heading for Jebel Shams stop at the terrace farming village of WADI GHUL. In the Jebel Akhdar range JEBEL SHAMS the highest peak offers the most spectacular view. 

Enjoy a picnic lunch en route.  Visit the village of Al Hamra famous for its date plantations.  Drive through the spectacular Wadi Bani Auf . This stretch of graded road is very adventurous and for the physically fit as it involves steep bends and bumpy roads.  En route to Muscat a brief stop Nakhl sparkling springs.  Overnight in Muscat hotel of your choice. DAY 8

Departure transfer.

   
   

Includes

  • Visa on arrival at Seeb airport (For the eligible Nationalities)
  • Accommodation on Twin sharing basis BB/basis as below :
  • 01 night at Ras Al Hadd
  • 01 night at 1000 Nites Camp OR Al Raha Camp
  • 02 nights Golden Tulip Nizwa
  • Transportation in air-conditioned Saloon car, small bus and 4WD vehicle wherever applicable with the services of an English speaking chauffeur.
