For the 10th year in a row, TUI, Germany’s leading tour operator awarded Iberotel Hotels and Resorts and Sol Y Mar Resorts have been awarded the TUI Environment Champion last October 2007.

The “green trophy” is presented to the 100 holiday destinations, which make the most successful contribution to environmentally-sound and future oriented hotel management. Among the top awarded hotels in 2007 were JAZ Hotels and Resorts’ Iberotel Makadi Beach in Hurghada, Iberotel Coraya Beach and Iberotel Lamaya Resort in Marsa Alam; in addition to Sol Y Mar Makadi Marine in Hurghada.

Criteria upon which judgment was based are matters of nature conservation and environmental protection as well as sustainable regional development were, For one-and-a-half decade, the resorts owned by TUI Hotels & Resorts has led the way in ecological innovations.

In addition to comprehensive environmental engagement in its own establishment, the resorts are respected partner for local environmental organizations and authorities on issues of nature conservation and environmental protection throughout the region.
