bmi, Heathrow’s
second largest carrier, has started
operating its new daily non-stop service
from Cairo to London Heathrow beginning
November 4th, 2007. Travia, the sole agent
of bmi and the aviation agencies company of
Travco, announced that flights have been
available for bookings since early
September.
bmi's
inauguration took place on the 4th of
November, 2007 at Cairo Airport,
followed by a press conference on the
6th November in which the Minister of
Tourism, Zoheir Garranah andTaher Helmy,
member of the Executive Board of Egypt’s
International Economic Forum spoke about
the economic trends and growth, trading
relationships in Egypt and how tourism
is growing in the country.
During the
evening, guests made their way to the
British Ambassador's residence where the
Ambassador gave a welcoming speech and
spoke about the importance of the
inauguration of bmi into Egypt.
Nigel Turner,
CEO of bmi flew into Egypt to represent
bmi and stated “bmi will service a total
of 36 destinations from Heathrow at the
start of the winter timetable. This
further reinforces our position as
Heathrow’s second largest carrier and
sends a clear message that bmi is a
major force within the UK aviation
industry.”
Operating the
Airbus A320 aircraft, bmi offers
competitive fares catering to both
business and economy travelers who
require more choice and better value.
According to statistics from the UK
Civil Aviation Authority from January to
September 2006, bmi is Heathrow’s most
punctual UK airline, operating 1700
European and domestic flights each week.
bmi's
investment in the new Cairo – Heathrow
route will further enhance Cairo’s
position as a destination for business
and leisure travelers, by increasing
flight options into the Egyptian
capital.
