Sonesta Resorts announced that as of January 2008, the Melia Pharaoh Hotel in Hurghada will be under the new management of Sonesta and will operate as
Sonesta Pharaoh Beach Resort Hurghada, marking its 12th property in Egypt.

The five-star resort, featuring 360 rooms, includes two outdoor swimming-pools, a children's pool, an indoor heated pool; in addition to, on-site Scuba-diving center at its private beach for divers and enthusiasts to dive and snorkel at the hotel-owned coral reef.

Furthermore, the hotel comprise a fitness center, sauna, massage, two tennis courts, two paddle courts, hockey pitch and mini golf course, children mini club, and an amphitheater.

For leisure and entertainment, the resort will provide a wide variety of dining options including three fine dining restaurants and a café, a pool bar, beach bar and lounge.

The Resort also features meeting rooms, accommodating up to 375 guests. Sonesta has been operating deluxe hotels in the Middle East since 1982, primarily in Egypt, and is looking forward to the re-flagging of this beach resort in Hurghada.
