Mut is Dakhla’s capital and represents its original settlement. This ancient city came to existence in the Pharaonic period and accommodates a vast array of historical relics. The Museum if Heritage comprises several rooms, each of which exhibits a diversity of sculpted clay figures arranged to show different aspects of Dakhla ‘s culture and its family life.
The city retains an irresistible charm, but its main attraction is the hotels and the basic but friendly restaurants. There is an old town here as well, a labyrinth of mud-brick houses and winding lanes. Little now remains of the old town citadel still remains, but on its original location you will have the finest views over the town and the palm groves. Mut’s empty roads make it one of the most ideal spots for biking in Egypt.
