The National Museum of Port Said contains a collection of artifacts dating from prehistory and the Pharaonic, Coptic and Islamic periods, and covers the history of the building of the Suez Canal.
Located on Sharia 23rd of July. It encompasses some small displays of the pharaonic and Islamic wars, and artifacts from the Suez Crises and the 1967 and 1973 wars.
The Suez Canal is one of the world's most important waterways; it runs 100 miles between the sand dunes of the Sinai Peninsula and the River Nile delta.
Interesting ways to enjoy Port Said is to take a tour around the city on a Hantour (a horse-drawn carriage). Shopping is another option in this tax-free city.
